Join us for the 2024 Fire Adapted Nevada Summit in Reno!

 

Learn how to begin or continue your fire adaptation journey in Nevada. Collaborate with other Fire Adapted Nevada (FAN) communities, meet local state and federal firefighting agencies, and learn about grant opportunities to help your community.

What is Fire Adapted Nevada (FAN)?

Fire Adapted Nevada (FAN) is a multi-agency partnership involving federal, state, county, and local agencies, non-profit organizations and private entities. University of Nevada, Reno Extension’s Living With Fire Program is a part of this partnership. FAN’s goal is to support communities as they become fire adapted.

Where is the Conference?

The Fire Adapted Nevada Summit will be held at the Joe Crowley Student Union (JCSU), room 419 at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Where to Stay?

We have a room block at the Eldorado Reno Resort Casino at a discounted rate of $85.86/night.

How to get the discounted rate: Call Michele Feemster at 888-889-9338 or email her at mfeemster@eldoradoresorts.com during business hours Mon.-Fri. 9am-5pm. Be sure to notify her that you are with UNR for the Fire Adapted Nevada Summit and would like the discounted rate. 

Airport shuttle: The shuttle arrives at the Reno Tahoe International Airport every 30 minutes. Visit www.therowshuttle.com for shuttle information and tracking.

Transportation from Eldorado to the Summit at UNR: A University of Nevada, Reno Extension van will shuttle attendees to and from the Eldorado to UNR. The shuttle will pick up attendees from the Silver Legacy Valet at 7:30 am to arrive at the conference in time for breakfast and check-in. If you would like to ride the Extension shuttle, sign up on your registration form. 

Will there be food?

Yes! We will be serving breakfast on both days and lunch lunch on the 26th. If you have dietary restrictions, please let us know your on your registration form.

 

Limited Travel Stipends are Available!

Live more than 50 miles away from Reno? If so, we’re offering limited participant travel stipends. If you would like to apply for the participant stipend, email us at LWF@unr.edu

Parking at the University of Nevada, Reno

Free parking will be available on the top two levels of the West Stadium Parking Complex.

Parking Pass: Each attendee will need to print a dashboard parking pass and place it within sight for the parking attendants. You will receive a link to download the parking pass after registering for the summit.

Field Trip

Join us for a site visit in Reno area to see an example of community wide fuels-reduction work. More details to come!

When: February 27, 2024 from 12:30-4pm
