Wildfire for Informal Educators Trainings | 2026

This spring, University of Nevada Reno, Extension’s Living With Fire Program is offering free workshops to support educators interested in teaching youth about wildfire. These workshops are intended for instructors of summer camps, after school groups, or anyone else working in an informal educational role.

 

The 2-hour training will include:

  • Wildfire themed lesson plans and activities 
  • Information about wildfire ecology and preparedness 
  • Trauma informed teaching strategies 
  • Take-home wildfire preparedness resources to share with families 

 

There are two options for participating in the workshop. 

  1. Join the open session on Thursday, May 28th from 2:00-4:00 at the Washoe County Extension Office at 4955 Energy Way, Reno, Nevada. RSVP here.
  2. Have Living With Fire staff come to your site to provide a session as part of summer onboarding or ongoing professional learning. Email LWF@unr.edu to schedule.
