Quick links
Washoe County is working with local agencies, state and federal agencies and other local partners and residents to update our Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). UNR Living With Fire is facilitating efforts with Washoe County and Nevada Division of Forestry and others with funding from the Bureau of Land Management. This aims to create an engaging process and to design a plan that will help our community identify fire risks and implement actions to reduce wildfire impacts.
Get Involved
The best CWPP’s involve the community and your feedback is crucial in shaping a plan that meets Washoe Counties needs. The majority of this work will take place over 2026 and the easiest way is to sign up for updates using this form or see the current opportunities for involvement below.
Timeline
This process was started at the end of 2025 and is expected to last about a year before the draft would be available. During this time, the Core Team will meet regularly to create and review pieces of the plan that will then be sent for review to broader groups. Throughout this process, we’ll be collecting input on where our community sees risk from wildfire and projects that could reduce that risk. We’ll also be relying on the community for input on what types of projects to prioritize and to learn what has already been done or planned to mitigate risk.
