Join us at the library for an engaging event as we kick off Nevada Wildfire Awareness Month! Let by the University of Nevada, Reno Extension’s Living With Fire program, this event offers interactive and educational activities on getting ready for evacuation and making homes and communities more wildfire-ready. Don’t miss this opportunity learn, have fun, and enhance your wildfire preparedness!

  • Interactive Ember House
  • Ember Awareness Walk

Friday, May 17:

During the second day with University of Nevada, Reno Extension’s Living With Fire program students will learn about how wildfires spread and how to prepare homes to be safer during a wildfire. Participants will create model forests out of matchsticks on pegboards then burn them, with close adult supervision, to learn how wildfires spread. We will finish by applying our new knowledge about wildfire to learn how defensible space can help protect homes during a wildfire. Attending the May 3rd session is not required to join for this day.
